JOUR 465: Public Relations & Advertising Campaigns
For the senior Campaigns class, led by Dr. Jim Parham, students collaborated with the George and Frances Ball Foundation's Cradle to Career initiative to form an integrated strategic communications campaign plan. Cradle to Career works to empower families within Muncie's Promise Neighborhoods to seek education as an escape from generational poverty. NEWS 449: Foundations of Journalism- Legal & Ethical Principles
Ethics and legality are the backbone of proper public relations, advertising, and journalism practices. I took NEWS 499, along with an Honors Colloquia, over the Summer 2023 semester while working full-time for the Honors College. This course provided a great analysis of the U.S. legal system and the ethics of communication. The featured example of my work for this class (view it by clicking the image below) is my Ethical Evaluation for Elonis v. United States.
HONR 499: Honors Senior Thesis
As a requirement to graduate, students in Ball State's Honors College must create an Honors Thesis. For mine, I created a website about the current trends in performing arts spaces to prioritize DEIAB, and how to implement these best practices in real, operating venues. This project is meant to serve as a reference, inspiration, and model for why and how to carry out different promotional or written materials in these spaces, particularly land acknowledgments. HOSP 287: Event Management
For my concentration in Hospitality & Event Management, I took HOSP 287. This course allowed us to analyze various events to evaluate the planning and management procedures, as well as pose suggestions for how we would have carried out the event. For one assignment, our class analyzed the infamous Fyre Festival to understand why it failed.
